What is DMC Dance Co?

DMC Dance Co is an independent ballet education studio offering intentional, supplemental ballet training rooted in dancer health, confidence, and long-term artistry.

Founded and directed by Miss Catrina, DMC Dance Co provides thoughtful instruction for dancers at various stages of their training through assessment-based private coaching, small group programs, and occasional open ballet classes.

Why a Collective?

DMC Dance Collective is built as a shared learning environment rather than a traditional studio structure. Dancers train along individualized paths while participating in a community rooted in intentional education, mentorship, and long-term dancer wellbeing. Though goals and backgrounds may differ, dancers are united by shared values, respect for the body, and a thoughtful approach to ballet training.

Why are DMC classes offered online?

DMC’s online format grew out of a real training need.

When a dedicated young dancer I was mentoring lived thousands of miles away, it became clear that location shouldn’t limit access to thoughtful, safe pointe preparation.

Teaching online allowed me to support her progress intentionally while maintaining the same standards of care, observation, and education I would expect in person.

That experience shaped the foundation of DMC and continues to guide how classes are structured

⸻

Is online training effective for ballet and pointe preparation?

Yes, when approached with intention.

DMC classes are designed to prioritize alignment, strength, vocabulary, and readiness, with careful observation and individualized feedback. Dancers also receive follow-up guidance to support safe progress between sessions.

What does “invite-only” mean?

Invite-only means that participation in the Pointe Prep Program begins with an individual readiness assessment. I extend invitations when a dancer is ready to safely benefit from pointe preparation. This allows me to work thoughtfully and responsibly with each dancer.

⸻

Does invite-only mean my dancer isn’t good enough?

Not at all. Readiness for pointe work is not a measure of talent, effort, or dedication. It’s based on strength, alignment, coordination, and physical development, all of which vary widely from dancer to dancer.

⸻

Is this a replacement for my dancer’s ballet studio?

No. My work is supplemental and designed to support a dancer’s existing studio training. I do not replace technique classes or override studio instruction.

⸻

Do you teach pointe work?

My focus is on pointe preparation and readiness education. I do not rush dancers en pointe. If pointe work is introduced, it is done carefully and with long-term dancer health as the priority.

⸻

Is this program online or in person?

Offerings are online. All online instruction is designed with safety, supervision, and clear communication in mind.

⸻

How do I request an assessment for the Pointe Prep Program?

Families may submit an assessment request through the inquiry form. Submitting a request does not guarantee an invitation, but it allows me to review readiness and share appropriate next steps.

⸻

What if my dancer isn’t ready yet?

Not being ready is normal and often a very positive part of development. I provide guidance on areas to continue strengthening, and dancers are always welcome to be reassessed when readiness improves.

⸻

Who makes the final decision about readiness?

I make readiness recommendations based on professional experience, observation, and assessment, always guided by the dancer’s well-being.

⸻

How do you prioritize dancer safety?

I emphasize education, strength, alignment, clear communication, and age-appropriate progression. My goal is to support dancers both physically and emotionally, so they can enjoy dancing long-term.

⸻

How can I ask additional questions?

Families are always welcome to reach out with thoughtful questions. Open communication and trust are an important part of the DMC Dance Co experience.

⸻

Do you offer any other classes? Will you teach in person?

At this time, DMC Dance Co focuses on pointe preparation training and occasional Open Ballet classes in order to maintain a high level of individualized attention for each dancer.

This intentional structure allows instruction to remain thoughtful, education-forward, and aligned with dancer health and long-term development.

Plans for future expansion are open and evolving. DMC Dance Co may offer additional classes or return to in-person instruction if and when the timing, structure, and location align with the studio’s values and teaching standards.
