Working With Studios

Working With Studios

Dance with Miss Catrina Pointe Prep is designed to support a dancer’s existing studio training, not replace it.

Healthy collaboration between instructors, studios, dancers, and families creates the strongest foundation for safe, successful pointe work.

How Pointe Prep Complements Studio Training

Pointe Prep focuses on:

  • Readiness assessment

  • Foundational strength and alignment

  • Education around safe pointe progression

  • Individualized guidance during early stages

Studio training provides:

  • Consistent class structure

  • Ongoing technical instruction

  • Artistic development and repertoire

  • Daily reinforcement of ballet fundamentals

When these roles are respected and aligned, dancers benefit from both perspectives without confusion or conflict.

Respecting Studio Instruction & Autonomy

Every studio has its own teaching philosophy, curriculum, and progression standards.

I respect:

  • Studio-specific technique approaches

  • Instructor authority within their classes

  • Existing pointe policies and timelines

I do not override studio instruction or interfere with class decisions. My goal is to provide support and clarity while honoring the studio’s role as the dancer’s primary training environment.

When Additional Support May Be Recommended

In some cases, additional guidance may be helpful — particularly when:

  • A studio does not offer structured pre-pointe or early pointe support

  • A dancer is transitioning into pointe for the first time

  • Specific strength or alignment needs have been identified

  • Temporary pauses or adjustments are recommended

Any additional support is offered thoughtfully and with respect for the dancer’s broader training plan.

Communication Expectations

Clear, respectful communication protects everyone involved.

I aim to:

  • Communicate transparently with families

  • Encourage parents to maintain open dialogue with studios

  • Share relevant observations when appropriate

  • Keep decisions centered on dancer safety and development

Families are encouraged to view Pointe Prep as one piece of a collaborative team — not a replacement for studio instruction.

A Shared Goal

All educators involved share the same goal:
healthy, confident dancers with long, sustainable training paths.

Collaboration, respect, and clarity allow dancers to thrive — and preserve positive relationships on all sides.
